• District Collector D. Muralidhar Reddy said pensions would be granted to all eligible persons in the district. On today during Dr. YSR Jayanthi. Speaking at a function to distribute the inflated pensions at AMG high school, the Collector said that the state government has raised Rs 139 crore every month for the pensions for 5.81 lakhs pension holders. He said that the state will soon be recruiting ward volunteers in urban areas and that these volunteers will work to address the ration, pension distribution and local issues of every 50 families. As part of the program, Kakinada City MLA Sri Dwarampudi Chandrashekhar Reddy said that the state government had promised to increase the pensions to Rs.3,000 in a phased manner. He said he had discussed with the District Collector about the implementation of a scheme that would benefit 10 thousand beneficiaries for housing in Kakinada city and also urged the Collector to undertake land acquisition for the project. He said that the state government is working to provide a corruption-free administration in the state and if there are any irregularities in the distribution of ration and pension, they should be brought to the attention of the authorities immediately. City Mayor Sunkara Pawani, who was present at the event, said quick steps would be taken to address public issues. Municipal Commissioner K.Ramesh said 6.19 crores for pensions for 24.950 pensioners.
